As a Senior Patient Care Coordinator, we are often the first point of contact for our patients and their families. As such we value representing an important first impression. Our professionalism, expertise and dedication help ensure that our patients receive the quality of care they need. We are diligent in obtaining complete and accurate insurance and demographic information in a timely manner, this enables us to provide high quality, compassionate health care service to all who need them, regardless of their ability to pay. Positions may be available in the following areas: Emergency Room, Operating Room, Outpatient, Infusion, Maternal Child and Transplant Services.

Employees are required to work Sunday - Wednesday - 7 AM - 5:30 PM with the flexibility to work nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays which could vary based on business need and additional information will be provided during the interview process. This is an onsite position at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center - 3555 S VAL VISTA DR, GILBERT, AZ, 85297. We offer 3 weeks of paid training.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communicates directly with patients and / or families either in person or on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, collecting co-payments, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefits
  • Responds to patient and caregivers' inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Utilizes computer systems to enter, access or verify patient data in real - time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information
  • Generates, reviews and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Intermediate level of understanding of insurance policies and procedures 
  • Intermediate level of experience working with requesting and processing financial payments and the ability to perform basic calculations for payment
  • Ability to work onsite at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center
  • Ability to work Sunday - Wednesday - 7 AM - 5:30 PM including the ability to be flexibility based on business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital OR medical setting
  • 1+ years of experience working in an Emergency Department setting
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and patient care settings

 

**PLEASE NOTE** The sign-on bonus is only available to external candidates.  Candidates who are currently working for UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare or a related entity in a full time, part time or per diem basis ("Internal Candidates") are not eligible to receive a sign on bonus. 

 

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
