This position provides supervisory support for the operational productivity, efficiency, repair, maintenance, safety, and quality results of the Snowmaking and Grooming functions at Gunstock Mountain Resort. Ensures that mountain maintenance operations are conducted in an efficient and safe manner and delivers a superior skiing/riding surface for all guests. This position reports directly to the Snowmaking and Grooming Manager. Overnight availability strongly preferred during the snowmaking season.Â
General Accountabilities
- Snowmaking Operations
- Supervise and coordinate mountain snowmaking activities and provide up-to-date and detailed activity reports for shift changes.
- Ensure consistent adherence to established departmental standards and procedures for the installation, maintenance, repair, quality control, inspection, testing, and daily operation of all snowmaking equipment and machinery.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance of snowmaking guns, pumps and compressors by installing and removing cords, changing oils, and cleaning filters; ensure all hydrants, snow guns, electrical boxes and telephone poles are appropriately padded before each trail opening.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and managing specifications and requirements for the design, construction, modification, installation, and maintenance schedules for new snowmaking equipment and machinery.

- Grooming Operations
- Provide for a quality snowsports experience by effectively managing all aspects of the slope, base area, Terrain Parks, Nordic Trails, and Tubing Park grooming operations to meet planned opening schedules and resort grooming standards; ensure Special Grooming Requests are completed in a timely manner with an eye toward quality and safety.
- Work directly with Department Managers to coordinate grooming and on-hill transport needs; communicate changes to planned schedules in a proactive manner.
- Partner with Mobile Maintenance to ensure Groomers are thoroughly trained on the proper operation of grooming equipment; ensure repair and maintenance issues are reported promptly to the Mobile Maintenance department; take appropriate corrective action as needed for incidents causing damage to company property and/or injury to others.
- Mountain Maintenance
- Plan, coordinate, and implement an effective summer maintenance program for all mountain trails and access roads; ensure proper management of sloped terrain to minimize the impacts of erosion and usage; coordinate seasonal mowing, brush cutting, and logging to provide for a quality snow surface in the winter season.
