Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) seeks a Second Shift Registered Nurse (RN) to join the dedicated team at O'Connor Health and Wellness Center in providing exceptional medical care to our diverse boarding and day school community. In this rewarding role, you will support the physical and emotional well-being of adolescents by conducting assessments, administering care, and collaborating closely with medical and counseling professionals. Northfield Mount Hermon, an independent boarding and day school located in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts, was founded on the principles of inclusivity and community — values that are as important today as they were at its founding in 1879.

A Day in the Life:
As a Second Shift Registered Nurse, you will play an essential role in caring for approximately 650 students from across the United States and more than 60 countries as they navigate the academic and residential experience at NMH. Working in our 24/7 O'Connor Health and Wellness Center, you will assess student health concerns, develop and implement treatment plans, administer medications, and provide compassionate inpatient care when needed. You'll collaborate closely with our physician, nurse practitioner, counselors, and fellow nursing staff to ensure coordinated, student-centered care while maintaining accurate electronic medical records. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact during some of the most important years in a young person's life while working alongside an experienced and supportive healthcare team. This second shift position includes a generous shift differential, every other weekend during the academic year, and time off during the November, December, and March school breaks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) degree required

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

  • Three to five years of nursing experience in emergency, adolescent, or family medicine preferred

  • Strong clinical assessment, organizational, and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative healthcare team

  • Experience maintaining electronic medical records and proficiency with basic computer applications, including Google Workspace

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound clinical judgment

  • Passion for supporting the health, well-being, and development of adolescents within a diverse and inclusive community


This is an in office position.


This is an academic year position, with school breaks and summer off.
10 hour shifts 1p-10p, 4 days a week with every other weekend required.
