JOB SUMMARY

Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator at the surface operations at our Ferguson Quarry in Gilman, IA. This position is responsible for safely operating equipment within the plant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Participate in safety programs and trainings, promoting Martin Marietta’s Guardian Angel culture
Perform a documented pre-operation inspection of all hydraulic systems, controls, and brakes before operations before operating.
Operate equipment at safe speeds and within manufacture recommendations and design limitations
Work in a team environment
Clean work areas
Proper wear of personal protective equipment
Notify supervisors of repairs needed
Assist in plant maintenance and repairs
Perform duties with minimum supervision

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma, GED or equivalent
1+ years of related experience
Valid US driver’s license

Skills:

Ability to work with minimal supervision
Knowledge of MSHA regulations
Effective verbal communication
Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use and maintenance

Physical Abilities

Ability to work in an outdoor environment year-round
General physical activities include climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reach with hands and arms, and handling material
