Position Purpose
Under general direction, performs a variety of secretarial, clerical, and fiscal/bookkeeping duties of moderate difficulty.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
- Acts as receptionist for city hall, greeting visitors and answering routine questions
- Answers incoming calls and makes connections with the appropriate parties
- Assists in the computation, preparation, and mailing of tax billsÂ
- Collects taxes, parking tickets, and other revenues for the city.
- Issues and tracks yard sale permits
- Manages Senior Citizen Discount Program and mails monthly notices
- Complete Lien release forms for paid delinquent tax bills
- Posts and balances daily receipts
- Composes routine correspondence
- Receives inquiries and complaints and assists in their disposition
- Serves as secretary to the mayor as needed
- Performs related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Training and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an equivalent GED certificate
Special Requirements
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Ability to be bondedÂ
- Ability to successfully complete background and drug screenings
- Proficiency in standard computer applications and data management systems
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and techniques.Â
- Ability to type material of routine to moderate difficulty.Â
- Ability to prepare routine statements and reports.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.Â
- Ability to keep confidential information
