****THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION****

Position Purpose

The assistant pool manager assists the Program Coordinator in the total operation and maintenance of the city pool.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

  • Ensures the pool area is kept safe and enjoyable for the public.
  • Supervises the lifeguards, admissions, and concession personnel. 
  • Assists in developing work schedules for all personnel.
  • Contacts appropriate maintenance personnel concerning the maintenance of the pool and pool area.
  • Assists in preparing and ordering food and drink for concessions.
  • Deposits of pool and concession receipts and ensures that financial records are properly maintained.
  • Supports the enforcement of rules and regulations of the pool and maintains records related to their enforcement.
  • Assists in identifying and correcting safety concerns in all park facilities.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Training and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent (GED).  At least two (2) years of experience in a swimming pool leadership role.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Requires CPR certification.
  • Subject to background check and annual driver’s license check.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of organizing, scheduling, and directing a large-scale swimming pool program.  
  • Working knowledge of pool safety and safety program implementation and enforcement.
  • Good management skills and ability to use good judgment under stressful circumstances.
  • Ability to maintain records of deposits, chemical readings, concession order, and swim lessons.
  • Ability to perform moderately difficult tasks around the pool.
  • Ability to keep confidential information.
