****THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION****

Position Purpose

Under general direction, lifeguards are responsible for the safety of patrons at the city pool.

 Essential Functions and Basic Duties

  • Performs activities necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons of the City Pool.
  • Performs pool maintenance tasks as necessary.
  • Assists as needed in the office and concession areas.
  • Assists with recognizing and correcting safety concerns in all park facilities.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Training and Experience

  • Valid lifeguard certification.
  • Valid Safety and First Aid certification.
  • Valid CPR certification.

Special Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
  • Must consent to and pass a criminal background check.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of pool safety and safety program implementation and enforcement.
  • Good management skills and ability to use good judgment under stressful circumstances.
  • Ability to maintain records of chemical readings and swim lessons.
  • Ability to perform moderately difficult tasks around the pool.
