Patient Care Attendant - PRN 
Department: Pre-Op / PACU
Location: Glasgow, KY

Hours:

  • PRN - 1 day/week 
  • Our surgery center is open Monday-Friday 6am-5pm
    • Your shifts will fall within those hours.
    • You may need to work a little earlier/later as needed.
  • No late nights, weekends or on-call shifts!

SUMMARY

Serves as support personnel, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), in accordance with established regulations for the practice of Medical Assistant, Federal, State, and accreditation standards and company policies and procedures.  Participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.  Identifies and reports to the supervisor inventory/supply needs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assists in Pre-Op and Post-Op with vital signs
  • Cleans/disinfects and makes stretchers
  • Assists with patient transfers and discharges
  • Stocks/restocks supplies
  • Maintains par levels of supplies needed for patient care and notifies Charge Nurse of shortages
  • Maintains clean/dirty linen

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and implement patient care within the scope of their practice
  • Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Above average organization skills
     

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
  • Favorable result on background check required

LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS 

  • Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This role requires a variety of physical activities to effectively perform essential job functions. The position involves frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%). Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology. Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
