Our strength lies in the broad range of techniques and custom special effects solutions we use to create first class spectaculars including laser effects, video projection and mapping, pyrotechnics, architectural lighting installs, custom constructed sets and bespoke engineered special effect solutions for live events and permanent applications.
The Pyrotechnician plays a key role in the planning, setup, execution, and teardown of professional pyrotechnic and special effects displays for live events, collegiate and professional sports, and entertainment productions. This position requires strong attention to safety, teamwork, and precision. Candidates with prior pyrotechnic experience and/or a current state license are preferred; however, we are willing to train responsible, motivated individuals and sponsor licensure for qualified candidates.
*** This position is based at our Maryland headquarters and will include frequent travel as described below. ***
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation, loading, wiring, and firing of pyrotechnic effects for indoor and outdoor shows.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing pyrotechnic operations (ATF, NFPA, OSHA, and state fire marshals).
- Safely handle and transport pyrotechnic materials and equipment in accordance with company safety policies.
- Support setup and teardown at event sites, including rigging, wiring, and control system checks.
- Participate in pre-show briefings, site inspections, and safety meetings.
- Conduct post-show cleanup and assist with equipment inventory, maintenance, and restocking.
- Collaborate closely with project leads, event producers, and clients to ensure flawless execution.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inventory, permits, and safety logs.
Requirements
 Required:
- Minimum age 21 and valid driver’s license with clear driving record.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely with tools, wiring, and electronics.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel frequently (mostly locally & regionally, but also nationwide as needed) and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
 Preferred:
- Current state pyrotechnician/operator license.
- Prior experience in live event production, stagecraft, special effects, or fireworks operations.
- CDL with HazMat endorsement a plus (not required).
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience & Skills:
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with short project cycles.
- Previous warehouse, live events, or fabrication experience preferred (not required).
Licenses & Clearances:
- Must be 21 years or older to obtain state licensure.
- Ability to pass criminal background check.
- Clean driving record with minimal points required.
Physical Ability:
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Physical agility to stand, walk, climb, and work at heights.
- Tolerance for variable outdoor conditions
- Work safely in variable temperature warehouse environment.
