Position Overview:

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Your work ensures safe, efficient system performance and exceptional customer experience. This role requires strong electrical expertise, troubleshooting ability, and clear communication with homeowners and internal teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair solar PV systems, inverters, electrical wiring, and other related components to restore and maintain system performance
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and system inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Perform system testing, diagnostics, and performance verification using meters, monitoring platforms, and specialized tools
  • Replace or upgrade electrical components, wiring, or conduit in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations
  • Identify root causes of performance issues and recommend corrective actions or upgrades
  • Communicate effectively with customers, explaining technical issues, repairs completed, and system performance recommendations
  • Complete detailed service reports, work orders, and documentation for each project
  • Maintain adherence to company and OSHA safety protocols, including the use of proper PPE and safe work practices on rooftops and job sites
  • Travel to residential job sites within the service area as needed


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of electrical experience, preferably in solar PV installation or service
  • Strong knowledge of solar electrical systems, including inverters, rapid shutdown devices, and monitoring systems
  • Thorough understanding of NEC requirements and local electrical codes
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical and solar-related issues
  • Experience hanging, cutting, and repairing sheetrock/drywall as required for electrical access and restoration during service work
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Comfortable working outdoors, on ladders, and rooftops
