ASFC Facility and Fitness Custodian

HOURS

Flexible schedules available:

• Monday-Friday: 4am-8am, 8am–12pm, 12pm–5pm, 5pm–11pm
• Saturday/Sunday: 6am-12pm, 12pm-5pm, and 5pm-11pm
• Availability may include early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Start Date: August 1st

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of the Facility Manager, Assistant Facility Managers, and/or Fitness Manager, this position is responsible for providing quality customer service by ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning of the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center. This is an at-will position.

This part-time opening includes two custodial roles: Fitness Custodian and Facility Custodian. While each position has distinct daily tasks, all custodial staff will be cross-trained and expected to perform responsibilities in both areas of the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Cleaning and disinfecting fitness areas, equipment, hallways, studios, restrooms, locker rooms, program rooms, and common areas
• Washing, drying, and folding towels
• Maintaining clean and tidy exercise equipment
• Cleaning floors, windows, doors, and high‑touch surfaces
• Removing trash and recycling
• Room setup and take‑down for programs and rentals
• Light maintenance as able
• Locking and securing the facility when assigned
• Assisting with snow removal at entrances
• Reporting any safety, maintenance, or security concerns
• Additional duties as assigned 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• The ideal candidate is reliable, self‑motivated, and customer-service oriented, with strong safety awareness.
• Effective communication and customer service skills; ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to shift tasks as needed
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Prior custodial/housekeeping experience required; experience in fitness centers preferred
• Knowledge of cleaning products and safe use/mixing of cleaning solutions preferred
• Ability to act calmly and rationally in high‑stress or emergency situations
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality
• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to provide excellent service to staff and patrons
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods and lift/move 25–30 lbs. regularly
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Reliable transportation required
• Must pass a post‑offer criminal background check
