Job Description:

Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations and at higher levels, controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor and is responsible for managing two or more of the following activities related to operations: manufacturing, production planning, manufacturing engineering, test, quality, or shipping/receiving/stores. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supports production, business, and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment.
  • Performs activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production, total quality management, manufacturing, equipment, and material management.
  • Schedules work, assists with employee selection, review employee performance, administers work rules and disciplinary action, and recommends compensation.
  • Responsible for productivity and product quality within their program area.
  • Recommends equipment upgrades, staffing adjustment, and process modifications.
  • Monitors that manufacturing operations are conducted in conformance with OSHA, EPA, and FOS safety regulations.
  • Schedule machine work for the maximum production output.
  • Ensure personnel are qualified for assigned duties. Implement cross training on production line.
  • Present schedule and production data at daily production and weekly program meetings.
  • Responsible for departmental planning, staffing, and production priorities. Contribute data to annual budget forecasts.
  • Responsible for compliance with L3Harris/FOS policies, procedures, standards, and training.
  • Process personnel merit reviews and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Review, interpret, and respond, with the input of others, to assure manpower, equipment, and supplies are available to meet production needs.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for operating supplies and new equipment.
  • Supervision of established programs with sales value ranging from small to medium.
  • Understands basic supervisory approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, and process execution. Typically requires broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within assigned discipline. 
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related Operations Management experience.
  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution. 
  • 1-3 years of experience with Lean Manufacturing environment.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Soft skills (I.E. Proficient in MS Office, Strong communication)
  • Knowledge of AS9100.
  • Process Improvement and SPC.
