2nd Shift Production Supervisor


Job Summary:  

Supervises, directs, and coordinates all activities involving their specific manufacturing department(s).  Assist in execution of production plans and the deployment of personnel in the manufacturing operation to drive safety, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.  Key metrics include: zero lost time accidents, on time delivery, and execution against targeted margins.

 

Planning and Development

 

  • Coordinates manpower for Operations.
  • Works with production planning on a daily basis to understand and optimize efficiency related to manpower requirements.
  • Optimize the workforce based on qualification and shift requirements.
  • Holds subordinates accountable and takes necessary disciplinary actions based on production guidelines and company regulations.
  • Accountable to hold subordinates accountable for safety, process, productivity, quality and code of conduct standards.
  • Responsible for directing the workforce as required to maintain safety, quality, and most efficient productivity.
  • Makes recommendations and implement ideas on improving production environment.
  • Coordinates operators to maintain production plan based on call-offs, vacations and other related deficiencies.
  • Works with Production Process Managers to coordinate training as required to maintain optimal flexibility based on individual skills.
  • Works with Production Process Managers to coordinate and direct workforce for operator based preventative maintenance in accordance with production planning.
  • Direct workforce as needed to maintain safe and clean work environment and align with business priorities.
  • Lead contact person for all non-routine tasks, such as snow removal.
  • Lead contact person on back shifts.
  • Accountable to assure maintenance work orders are issued, prioritized and aligned with production planning and business priorities.   Both planned and unplanned.
  • Conducts yearly performance evaluations with subordinates.
  • Accountable for the training of all operational employees as it pertains to job content, safety, regulatory and customer requirements.

 

Operational Management

 

  • Accountable for the safety of all subordinates and visitors to the manufacturing area.
  • Accountable to create a safety first culture in order to achieve zero lost time accidents.
  • Accountable for the execution of operational budget as it pertains to personnel.
  • Accountable for the operational adherence to all quality standards including ISO 9001.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Job Specifications:

  • College education preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience in chemical industry.  Preferably in coating and finishing technologies, including web processing.
  • 5 years’ experience as supervisor in chemical industry preferred.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills 
  • Strong problem solving skills to resolve equipment, component, scheduling, quality, safety, and personnel issues and concerns
  • Relevant computer systems proficiency in a manufacturing environment as well as with standard desk top computer software applications.
