Overview:Â The role of the Medical Assistant is a key member of the practice and provides clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality; efficient care. Performs delegated medical functions under the direction of a provider, authorized practitioner or RN in the delivery of care. This position is for our Radiation Oncology department. This is a full-time, day shift working 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Â Â
- Prepares schedule and all rooms for the day. Â Â Â
- Rooms patients. Â Â Â
- Completes all necessary paperwork for new patients. Encounters new patient documents. Â Â Â
- Enter orders for Labs. Â Â Â
- Schedules new patients, procedures, imaging procedures, simulations and reschedules for missed appointments.
Logs missed appointments and mails letters. Â Â Â - Obtains medical records for patients. Â Â Â
- Calls in prescriptions, e-prescribe scripts. Â Â Â
- Calls patients to confirm appointments. Notifies patients of negative test results. Â Â Â
- Requests CDs for imaging or dosimetry. Â Â Â
- Answers triage phone calls and responds appropriately. Â Â
- Must be willing to travel between offices with reliable transportation. Â
- Answers phone calls and return all messages by the end of the business day. Â Â Â
- Assists Medical Oncology Department and Women’s Clinic if needed.   Â
- Obtains authorizations for medications. Â Â Â Â Â
Knowledge and Skills:Â Â
- Stable work history, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Â Â Â
- Ability to use office equipment, computer, and typing is essential. Â Â Â
- Easily adaptable to a computer environment. Â Â Â
- Must be able to obtain vital signs and take instructions from Physicians. Â Â Â
- Must be able to relate well to patients. Â Â Â
- Ability to effectively communicate. Â Â Â Â Â
Education and Qualifications:Â Â
- 1-2 years' MA experience required. Â Â Â
- Previous RadOnc experience preferred. Â Â Â
- National MA Certification a plus (or must obtain within 90 days). Â Â Â
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Â Â Â Â Â
