As a Patient Care Assistant in our Acute Care Department, you'll work alongside nurses and physicians to provide hands-on support to hospitalized patients while helping create a comfortable, safe, and positive care experience.

About the Role

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, thrives in a team environment, and wants direct involvement in patient care. You'll assist with daily activities, monitor patients, gather important health information, and provide support that contributes to excellent clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assistance

  • Help patients with personal hygiene and daily living activities
  • Assist with walking, repositioning, transfers, and mobility needs
  • Support nutritional and hydration needs
  • Ensure patient rooms remain clean, organized, and comfortable

Monitoring & Clinical Tasks

  • Measure and document vital signs
  • Collect patient specimens as directed
  • Record intake and output information
  • Assist with EKG procedures and cardiac monitoring activities
  • Perform assigned patient care duties under nursing supervision

Communication & Teamwork

  • Answer patient requests and call lights promptly
  • Share observations regarding patient conditions with nursing staff
  • Participate in shift reports and team communication
  • Promote a respectful and supportive atmosphere for patients and coworkers

Unit Operations

  • Restock supplies and patient care equipment
  • Participate in training, meetings, and educational activities
  • Assist with maintaining department readiness

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Nursing Assistant training completed within six months of hire

Preferred

  • CNA certification
  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Three 12-hour shifts each week
  • Six-week rotation between day and night shifts
  • Weekend and holiday rotations required

Compensation

  • Starting wage of $17.24/hour for qualified certified candidates
  • Paid every two weeks
