Compensation: $18.75 to $28.13 per hour. (Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.) 

 

The Impact You Can Make

As an onsite Monitor Technician, you provide a protective eye over our most vulnerable patients. Your rapid verbal intervention and sharp communication prevents falls, injuries, and critical safety events before they happen. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor up to 10 patient rooms simultaneously on a centralized screen array with total focus.
  • Use digital 2-way audio headsets to guide and redirect patients engaging in at-risk behaviors.
  • Immediately summon floor nursing staff when a patient requires physical assistance or poses a risk.
  • Partner with RNs to receive patient updates and provide shift-to-shift reports.
  • Deliver compassionate, clear explanations to patients while maintaining strict institutional confidentiality.
  • Actively seek help or advice as soon as possible when a patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.
  • Proactively participate in the collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues, department safety programs, and organizational safety rules.
  • Assure patient environment safety by seeking immediate assistance with the removal of potential environmental hazards and safety issues from the room, reporting all findings directly to the Charge Nurse, ANM, or NM.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and department safety programs. 

 

What You Bring (Requirements)

 

Education & Experience

  • Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Hospital Familiarity: General knowledge of hospital settings (preferred).
  • Clinical Background: Prior experience in direct patient care or a hospital environment is highly valued.
  • BLS Certification: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (or obtained at time of hire) 

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Focused Multitasking: Ability to remain highly alert, prioritize simultaneous events, and manage up to 10 screens.
  • Tech-Savvy: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Windows, computer operations, and headset communication tools.
  • Strong Communicator: Exceptional discretion, courtesy, and efficiency when speaking with patients, families, and staff.
  • Professional Discipline: Commitment to zero distractions (no personal cell phones/electronics) during active observation shifts.
