Big River Forest Products, LLC (BRFP) is building a state-of-the-art lumber mill in Gloster, Mississippi. Â
The new mill will require over 1 million tons of timber annually to produce about 250 million board feet. The facility will be located on 65 acres (about the area of a large shopping mall) and represents a corporate investment of over $200 million, creating 131 jobs and supporting an additional 200 indirect jobs when operating at full capacity. Â

POSITION: Millwright
The Millwright will be a key player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through daily use of troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies. This position requires experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical drives, electrical applications and metal fabrication. A written entrance exam and demonstrated skills’ test are required. Pay rates are based on experience and skill level.Â
Responsibilities:Â
Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process.Â
Undertake preventative maintenance program for equipment.Â
Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair equipment.Â
Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.Â
Work in manlifts with the use of fall protection equipment.Â
Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.Â
Verify and document repairs made.Â
Work in a safe manner using proper PPE.Â
Required Skills: Â
3 years of previous maintenance experienceÂ
Be able to use supply room and cross-reference parts and specify partsÂ
Competent in reading blueprints and schematicsÂ
Competent in cutting and welding in all positionsÂ
Competent in all type bearing installations and alignmentsÂ
Competent in use of lubricantsÂ
Competent with all type power transmission components and troubleshootingÂ
Be able to figure drive ratiosÂ
Competent in troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systemsÂ
Be able to rebuild hydraulic and pneumatic componentsÂ
Be able to wire motorsÂ
Be able to use multimeter to take readingsÂ
Cut keyway in shaftÂ
Be able to pass a cutting and welding test (flat, overhead, vertical, and horizontal).Â
Be able to pass a basic mechanical assessment testÂ
Be able to pass a basic hands-on testÂ
High school diploma or GED Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays as requiredÂ
Environmental Conditions:Â
Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in a loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).Â
