About A Space for Us Counseling

A Space for Us Counseling is growing into an integrated wellness center offering neuroscience-informed, holistic, somatic, and trauma-responsive care.

We believe healing involves the mind, body, nervous system, relationships, family systems, culture, and lived experiences. Our goal is to provide an inclusive and supportive environment where individuals, couples, and families can heal, strengthen their relationships, and create meaningful change.

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Couples and Family Therapist to join our growing clinical team.

The ideal candidate is independently licensed in New Jersey and experienced in helping couples and families improve communication, resolve conflict, rebuild trust, establish healthy boundaries, and understand the patterns affecting their relationships.

Candidates should be comfortable using relational, systemic, attachment-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches. Training or interest in neuroscience, somatic therapy, mindfulness, or holistic wellness is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychotherapy to couples, families, and individuals.
  • Complete clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Help couples improve communication, manage conflict, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection.
  • Support families experiencing parenting challenges, separation, divorce, grief, trauma, blended-family concerns, or major life transitions.
  • Identify relational patterns, family dynamics, attachment needs, and nervous-system responses.
  • Use evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive interventions.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation.
  • Complete risk assessments, safety plans, referrals, and crisis interventions when appropriate.
  • Coordinate care with other professionals when clinically appropriate and authorized by the client.
  • Participate in clinical consultation, team meetings, and professional development.
  • Follow all ethical, legal, licensing, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Assist with developing couples groups, family workshops, and community wellness programs.
Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy, social work, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Active, unrestricted, independent clinical license in New Jersey.
  • Acceptable license includes LMFT  license.
  • Clinical experience providing couples or family therapy.
  • Knowledge of family systems, attachment, relationship dynamics, and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to independently assess, diagnose, develop treatment plans, and provide psychotherapy.
  • Strong clinical documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive, and identity-affirming care.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an integrated wellness team.
  • Current professional liability insurance or willingness to obtain it before starting.
