JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer leads engineering support and continuous improvement initiatives to drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This role partners cross-functionally to ensure robust processes, reliable equipment, and successful product launches while promoting a Lean, data-driven culture.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and automation improvements
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, quality systems, and customer requirements
  • Lead capital projects from justification through installation and validation
  • Drive equipment reliability and process capability improvements with Maintenance and Quality
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 5S, and structured problem-solving tools
  • Track and report performance metrics (productivity, scrap, safety, delivery)
  • Support new product launches including APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP readiness
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, standards, and work instructions
  • Partner with leadership to execute plant CI strategy and support operational readiness
  • Coach and influence teams on CI tools, accountability, and standard work

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred
  • Experience with APQP and/or core tools (PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC) preferred
  • Automotive or Tier 1 manufacturing experience preferred

 

REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Working knowledge of CAD and data analysis tools
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment including standing, walking, and accessing equipment for extended periods
  • Frequent movement between office and production floor
  • Ability to work around industrial equipment safely
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varying physical positions (bend, reach, climb) frequently

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to variations of noise, dust, temperature, and industrial equipment
  • Required use of PPE (safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection)
  • Combination of office-based engineering work and hands-on shop floor support
  • May require on-call support for troubleshooting and/or off-shift and/or weekends to support coverage gaps, production, launch activities, CI initiatives and/or project implementation
