Pharmacy1st Health is building the clinical infrastructure for rural America by transforming independent pharmacies into integrated care delivery hubs. Our model combines primary care, pharmacy services, and chronic disease management under one roof, creating a new, lower-cost site of care for underserved communities.

We operate across multiple states and are rapidly expanding a network of rural clinics co-located with pharmacies. Our goal is to deliver scalable, high-quality care while improving access, outcomes, and cost efficiency.

Role Overview

The Front Shop Manager leads the day-to-day operation of the retail front shop and its team, ensuring a welcoming, well-stocked, and compliant environment for every customer and patient who walks through our doors. This role owns the front-of-store experience end to end—supervising and developing front shop associates, managing inventory and vendor relationships, safeguarding cash and financial accuracy, and partnering closely with the Pharmacist-in-Charge and clinic staff to support a seamless integrated care experience. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, people-first leader who is equally comfortable coaching a team, resolving a customer concern, and reconciling a register drawer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own front shop inventory management, including ordering, receiving deliveries, stocking, and maintaining optimal stock levels while minimizing shrink and out-of-stocks.

  • Manage vendor relationships and purchasing for front shop products, monitoring pricing, margins, and product mix.

  • Plan and execute merchandising and promotional displays to drive sales and improve the customer experience.

  • Oversee point-of-sale operations, cash handling, and daily drawer reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and accountability.

  • Assist customers with general billing and payment questions and resolve point-of-sale discrepancies.

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise front shop associates, fostering a positive, service-oriented team culture.

  • Build and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage during peak and off-peak hours while controlling labor costs.

  • Oversee daily front shop operations, including opening and closing procedures, register operation, and maintenance of a clean, organized, and welcoming checkout and sales-floor environment.

  • Step in to run the register and support the broader pharmacy team during busy periods, as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant environment in accordance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA requirements when in proximity to the pharmacy counter.

  • Uphold health, safety, and loss-prevention standards across the front shop.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of retail experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role (pharmacy, grocery, or general retail preferred).

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to hire, train, schedule, and motivate a team.

  • Strong operational judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to manage inventory, cash handling, and daily reporting accurately in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

  • Friendly, professional communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging directly with customers and de-escalating concerns.

  • Computer proficiency and experience with point-of-sale and inventory systems.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.

  • No prior pharmacy experience required; familiarity with pharmacy or healthcare retail is a plus, and on-the-job training is provided for role-specific systems and workflows.
