JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:Ā 

The Accountant Analyzes and prepares various financial,Ā fiscalĀ and accounting reports and records. Prepares and reviews financial reports and schedules for internal and external use. Prepares journal entries as needed to ensureĀ accurateĀ financial reporting. Reconciles bank statements. Reviews general ledger account activity for precise fiscal reporting and ensuring that dataĀ entered intoĀ theĀ financial managementĀ system isĀ accurateĀ andĀ in accordance withĀ generally acceptedĀ accounting principles (GAAP) for local governments.Ā AssistsĀ department directors, county and state personnel,Ā vendorsĀ and the public by providing general fiscal information and/or advice as requested.Ā

SCHEDULE:Ā 

This positionĀ operatesĀ on our four-day,Ā 10 hourĀ work week (Monday-Thursday); however, there is flexibility to work Monday-Friday. This position is hybrid, with remote work and in-office work as needed for job and team specific duties and collaboration, flexing during periods of year.Ā Ā

Hiring Range:Ā $70,000-$75,000 USD AnnuallyĀ

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Ā 

  • Performs various accounting functions by making necessary adjustments in the county’s financial system, WorkdayĀ specifically.Ā 

  • Prepare documents for expenditure reporting to State and Federal agencies and other grant programs usingĀ multiple financial systems.Ā 

  • Reconcile bank statements, State and Federal revenue and expenditures, and various grant programs.Ā 

  • Maintain the general ledger and prepareĀ accurateĀ and concise adjusting entries to the general ledger.Ā 

  • AssistĀ peers and program employees with accounting tasks.Ā 

  • Communicate insights and recommendations to program managers, division heads, and department directors.Ā 

  • Contribute to county, state, and federal year-end close-out tasks toĀ maintainĀ accurateĀ reporting and meetĀ deadlines.Ā 

  • Balances and reconciles balance sheets and interdepartmental transfer accounts.Ā 

  • CoordinatesĀ and preparesĀ financial journal entries.Ā Ā 

  • Interacts with other agencies and departments by serving as a liaison betweenĀ externalĀ stakeholdersĀ and the county. Compiles necessary information as needed byĀ internal and externalĀ stakeholders.Ā 

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Ā

Experience:Ā 1 year of work-related experienceĀ in Human Services AccountingĀ 

Education:Ā Bachelor’s degree in accounting,Ā financeĀ or similar fieldĀ
