Job Title

Materials Engineer IUnder direct supervision, responsible for utilizing professionally accepted engineering principles and techniques to collaborate with engineering and materials process operations in assigned aspects of ceramic material manufacturing, process implementation and quality control.Roles & Responsibilities: • Maintains material properties and performance by providing feedback to operations team based on data from raw materials, inprocess testing and finished material characterization. • Working knowledge of material characterization and analytic test methods; including particle size/surface area analysis, comminution, powder properties, compaction-shrinkage behavior and chemistry. • Maintains complete and accurate written records and process documentation for processes and improvements to existing product and/ or processes. • Focuses on increasing process efficiency by actively participating in continuous improvement activities through research, benchmarking and identification of improved methods or tools • Follows up on established actions and effectively communicates results. • Develops a working knowledge (hands on) of all manufacturing processes, in-process controls, SPC, and all associated equipment in the production of ceramic related materials. • Monitors production processes to ensure product consistency and quality. • Familiar with SPC tools (i.e. control charts, DOE’s, etc.) to maintain and improve product and process quality • Maintains thorough documentation on incoming raw materials including specifications, suppliers, and internal testing requirements. • Aids in the testing and release of finished materials utilizing company software (shrinkage, compaction, etc.)." • Forges positive and productive working relationships with manufacturing personnel to develop buy-in and partnership in process/product quality initiatives • Develops an understanding of where and how data is captured and stored for raw materials, in-process inspection, and finished materials. • Performs process control and engineering functions as-directed • Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned • May work any and all shifts/days as required Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Ceramics, Materials or other related field Experience: • 6 months related materials engineering experience Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Analytical/Critical Thinking - Identifies and analyzes issues, gathers relevant data, collaborates with experts, and explores alternative solutions while considering different perspectives. • Building Relationships - Creates an inclusive environment that values individual uniqueness, fosters innovation, builds trust through authenticity and empathy, and treats others with integrity. • Communication - Communicates using empathy, influence, and an adaptive approach to accurately and persuasively create dialogue. • Data Analysis - Demonstrates a foundational understanding of data analysis by cleaning, categorizing, identifying trends, and communicating basic insights to support decision-making. • Materials Knowledge - Familiar with general ceramic processing, including particle size reduction, slurry rheology, spray drying, forming methods, sintering and microstructural analysis. • Project Management - Supports project execution by following plans, managing tasks, tracking progress, ensuring quality deliverables, securing resources, and proactively communicating risks and challenges.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 73,342.00 - USD 96,811.00
