POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Patient Advocate is responsible for ensuring the clinic meets the required standards to be successful. This includes HIPAA rules, OSHA rules, Compliance rules and regulations against fraud and abuse. Assignments are made in terms of broad goals and objectives and the incumbent must apply considerable decision making and independent judgement in daily activities.Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Eligibility checkÂ
- Fixing charts/mistakesÂ
- Phreesia appointment validations; cancellation/reschedulesÂ
- Pre-registrationÂ
- Recognize, greet and register patients in a polite, prompt and helpful mannerÂ
- ProviderFlowÂ
- Answer all phone calls and voice messages in a pleasant manner and handle patient needs expeditiouslyÂ
- Verify current informational statuses and collect insurance information, demographic information and signatures as neededÂ
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare settingÂ
- Knowledge of medical office proceduresÂ
- knowledge of computer systems and applicationsÂ
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuationÂ
- Skills in operating business office machinesÂ
- Skills in answering the telephone in a professional mannerÂ
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructionÂ
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, employees and the publicÂ
