Job DetailsJob Location: Klickitat Valley Health - GOLDENDALE, WA 98620Position Type: Full Time 36 Hours/wkSalary Range: $42.41 - $69.44 HourlyJob Shift: Varied ShiftsGENERAL SUMMARY: The Resource RN is oriented to the Acute Care and Emergency Services departments and is competent to provide cross-coverage in both units as needed. The RN provides direct and indirect nursing care as defined by the Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse {Nursing Practice Act (RCW 18.79.010-18.79.902)}. The RN is a vital member of the healthcare team, working collaboratively with other team members to deliver optimal outcomes for our patients in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable manner. The RN demonstrates excellence in customer service during interactions with other employees, managers/supervisors, providers, patients, and patient family members. The role of the RN includes, but is not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients’ status, plan of care, and goal achievement. QualificationsSafety Sensitive per WASB5123: Yes Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications): Safety Sensitive per WASB5123: Yes Education / Licensure: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an active/current RN license in Washington State. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC are required within six (6) months of hire. BSN preferred Experience: Six (6) months of nursing experience preferred. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Ability to work independently using sound judgment and critical thinking skills Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice to safely and competently care for the patient. Ability to assess the patient’s unique needs and generate resourceful ideas and recommendations Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Work in a stressful, fast-paced/demanding environment and take appropriate action to ensure the quality of patient care, as well as the ability to cope with both physical and emotional demands of the job. Maintains a calm and composed manner in emergency/stressful situations, taking appropriate action as necessary. Ability to listen and accept advice from others Keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy; risk of error could result in significant harm or loss. Proficiency using everyday technology (e.g., email, data retrieval, voicemail, and internet/intranet) as well as the ability to effectively utilize the electronic medical record Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to anticipate tasks and prioritize assignments. Adaptability is essential to manage the needs of a department with unpredictable volume and limited staff. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to): Supports the organization's mission, vision, and values. Demonstrates knowledge of the statutes and regulations governing nursing and nursing functions within the legal boundaries of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Performs head-to-toe assessment on patients, when appropriate, including pediatric, geriatric, and the general patient population. Initiates or contributes to the plan of care and discharge plan for all patients admitted, identifying priorities within the plan and setting realistic and measurable goals. Evaluates overall plan of care daily, monitors patient progress, and identifies any status changes, able to revise plan of care as indicated by patient’s response to treatment to ensure patient comfort and safety. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Formulates teaching plan for patients and families based upon identified learning needs. Adequately assesses and reassesses pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. Delivers and documents patient care promptly as prescribed by the medical provider considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age and within the scope of practice of the Registered Nurse, including: bathing, feeding, taking vitals, administering therapies and treatment, starting/maintaining/discontinuing IV lines for food, medication, blood and blood products; observing the patient and recording those observations, and answering patient questions Uses sound nursing judgment to identify and communicate changes in the patient’s condition to the provider promptly, consistent with delivery of quality care. Communicates nursing interventions and responses to care to other members of the health care team. Assists providers with procedures and performs care and services requiring technical and manual skills. Performs all aspects of patient care in a safe, clean, and orderly environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. Appropriately utilizes all necessary equipment and technology to care for the patient. Works collaboratively with other hospital staff, delegating tasks as necessary; may assist in the oversight of LPN, CNA, ED Tech, and Unit Secretary. Participates in quality review (QR) and performance improvement (PI) processes. Performs new nursing techniques or procedures after successful demonstration of competencies. Complies with all hospital and department policy and procedures, including but not limited to medication administration and infection prevention. Attends a minimum of 80% of nursing staffing meetings and 100% of mandatory in-services. Completes initial and annual skills competencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
