Job Description

  • Provide resident assistance with activities of daily living; encouraging and promoting residents’ self care to the extent possible. 
  • Provides a setting that is clean, safe and comfortable. 
  • Perform daily housekeeping laundering tasks for residents. 
  • Set up for meals and clean up after. 
  • Customizing supportive services that are tailored to the specific needs and preferences of residents and their families.   
  • Delivering services and monitoring resident needs according to the resident’s service plan including; personal care, monitoring health needs and assisting residents with medications (as delegated by the LPN/LVN) per state regulations. 
  • Conducting or assisting residents in their programming activities. 
  • Ensure high quality of resident care and recommend ways to improve quality. 
  • Participate in in-service education as needed. 
  • Participate in team meetings. 
  • Maintain a positive working environment and encourage teamwork. 
  • Ensure that residents’ ancillary supplies are properly charged to the residents. 
  • Complete end of shift reports 
  • Maintains a professional appearance, manner and approach while on duty. 
  • Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly. We will train the right candidates that have the heart to serve others
  • Assist residents in their daily living activities (bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility, etc.)
  • Transfer and escort residents as necessary assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience is required.  Prefer a candidate who has worked with residents who have dementia.  However, we are willing to train someone who is eager to serve and eager to learn.
  • Must have a proven track record of being reliable.  Must have a schedule that ensures caregiver is able to remain alert, awake and responsible during the overnight hours.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • First Aid Certification is required, or to be completed within first 30 days of employment.
  • Physical Demands: 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods. 
  • Ability to push and pull objects, lift and carry up to 20 pounds, unassisted, on a frequent basis (occasionally up to 50 pounds, unassisted). 
  • Full use of hands, arms, and legs (for washing, bathing, assisting in feeding, and dressing residents, writing notations, operating vacuum cleaners, light housekeeping in resident rooms and bathrooms, etc.) 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to body fluids, infection, odors, and behavior of residents. 
  • Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality with resident and family information. 

Additional Information

  • CNA or experience as caregiver.   
  • First Aid / CPR certified 
  • Knowledge and experience in working with elderly preferred. 
  • Good physical and mental health. 
  • Basic reading and writing skills and ability to speak English.
