U.S. Citizenship is Required. Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance required. Candidate must be SAP and SCI program eligible.


This is an on-site position located in Goleta, CA.


Toyon Research Corporation is an industry leader in the areas of complex space and missile systems analysis, aerothermodynamics, payload design and development, and ground and flight testing. Our Aerospace Systems Group provides innovative technical solutions to support aerospace programs for the Department of Defense (DoD) and their agencies. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead development of deployment systems for CubeSats and other small size spacecraft.


Responsibilities

  • Design and develop deployment systems and associated mechanisms through test and delivery
  • Translate system level requirements into designs
  • Author drawings, assembly documentation, and test plans
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to define project objectives, timelines, and deliverables
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize system performance and reliability
  • Work in a team environment involving experts in diverse disciplines (e.g. aero-thermal and thermostructural analyses, RF and IR signature effects of materials and configurations, etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 or more years of experience designing mechanisms and structures encountering challenging vibration, shock, and temperature environments
  • Experience with the various elements of mechanical design and drafting, including selection of structural materials, adhesive and fastener selection; AMSE y14.5 and other relevant ASME drafting standards; familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100/MIL Specifications as they apply to aerospace structures
  • Experience using parametric CAD software to create models of assemblies, parts and drawings. Experience with SolidWorks and / or Creo skills are preferred, with the ability to quickly achieve proficiency in both CAD packages

The annual pay range for the Mechanical Engineer position is $110,000 to $165,000.


The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate’s education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
