Title: Concrete Field Engineer
Summary:
The Concrete Field Engineer provides field engineering support for concrete construction projects. This position is responsible for assisting with project layout, reviewing plans and specifications, tracking quantities, coordinating materials, supporting quality assurance, and helping resolve field issues to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with concrete layout, surveying, and verification of elevations, dimensions, and alignment.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and submittals for concrete-related work.
- Prepare and track quantity takeoffs for concrete, rebar, formwork, embeds, and related materials.
- Support work planning, sequencing, and coordination of concrete activities.
- Monitor concrete placement, formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, curing, and finishing for quality compliance.
- Help prepare RFIs, field reports, as-built documentation, and daily progress logs.
- Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors.
- Assist with scheduling material deliveries, inspections, and testing.
- Support safety practices and participate in jobsite safety meetings and inspections.
- Help identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and discrepancies in the plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 1–5 years of field engineering or concrete construction experience, depending on project size and employer.
- Working knowledge of concrete construction methods, formwork, reinforcement, and related trades.
- Strong ability to read plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, REVIT or similar tools preferred.
- Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting of materials or equipment as required.
- Ability to access all areas of the jobsite and communicate effectively in the field.
