Job DetailsJob Location: Daycare Center - GORDON, NE 69343POSITION SUMMARY  The Certified Daycare Teacher encourages the healthy intellectual and psychological growth of children. The Teacher will teach and supervise children while also motivating them to use their mental capacities and exercise their imagination. They are to lead classroom instruction, within the Daycare center, for the age group of children that they are assigned to. The Certified Teacher must hold a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate and be employed as a staff member at a licensed Childcare Center that is on the premises of an accredited or approved school.  CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES  Design and follow a schedule of activities utilizing suitable teaching materials. Create lesson plans and other curriculum that support a child’s learning and development. Provide basic care to children. Use a wide range of teaching methods, including but not limited to stories, media, indoor/outdoor games, drawing, etc. to enhance the child’s abilities and knowledge. Evaluate children’s performance to make sure they are on the right learning track. Complete and document developmental growth, change, and deficiencies as they see them. Schedule regular conferences with parents and guardians, in conjunction with Daycare Center Director, to keep them apprised of any issues that may develop. Communicate effectively with parents in conjunction with the Daycare Center Director, updating them on the progress of their children. Identify behavioral problems and work with the Daycare Center Director to determine the right course of action. Collaborate with other Teachers/Aides/Substitutes. Clean and sanitize the Daycare Center. Serve meals and snacks to children. Set up classroom and play areas daily. Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by all federal, state, and local guidelines.   SCOPE OF IMPACT  A Certified Daycare Teacher encourages positive interactions among kids while providing a safe place to grow. The Daycare Teacher ensures children’s basic needs, like nutritional and developmental education, are met.  QualificationsPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS  Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.  Education: Must have ONE of the following requirements Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, education or child/youth development OR Child Development Associate Credential (preferred) High School Diploma or GED with 1500 verified clock hours of experience in organized group activities for young children as verified by a former employer OR submit a written plan for Department approval to acquire at least three credit hours or 45 clock hours of training in administration, early childhood education, education, or child/youth development in a of six (6) months or less.  Experience: Previous experience with children required. Previous experience as a Child Care/Daycare Teacher preferred. Experience within an elementary school or daycare setting, preferred.  Licensure and Certification: Valid Nebraska Teaching Certification required. BLS/First Aide certification required Safe With You certification required Provided upon hire if needed  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Knowledge of: Early childhood education and development, or related field. Nebraska’s core competencies for young children.
