General Job Description

The Quality Certification Specialist verifies compliance of all incoming raw materials against engineering specifications and industry standards. This role manages end-to-end documentation integrity, approving incoming raw material certifications, compiling and auditing Material Certification Packages for outgoing finished products, and overseeing calibration programs while providing cross-functional technical support.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering and estimation teams during quote and planning stages to review customer quality requirements, material specifications, and testing criteria.
  • Review incoming Mill Test Reports (MTRs), Certificates of Analysis (CoA), and Certificates of Conformance (CoC) against material specifications (ASTM, ASME, ISO, customer drawings, Purchase Orders).
  • Verify heat/lot numbers, chemical compositions, mechanical properties, and non-destructive testing (NDT) results against standard tolerances; issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and collaborate with procurement to resolve vendor discrepancies.
  • Assemble comprehensive finished-product quality compliance packages for customers, perform final documentation audits for complete material traceability, and manage digital certification data within ERP/QMS software.
  • Oversee calibration programs, maintenance intervals, and data collection tools for precision shop measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMMs, gages), while coordinating external vendor calibrations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for material traceability, certification requests, and equipment calibration records during internal and customer audits (ISO 9001, AS9100).



Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2–5 years in a Quality Control/Quality Assurance role reading/auditing MTRs/CoAs, with experience supporting engineering, estimation, or calibration functions.
  • Strong understanding of engineering prints, technical drawings, metallurgy, chemical/mechanical material testing standards (ASTM, ASME, EN), and calibration standards.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, Epicor) and advanced MS Office/Excel skills.

Extreme attention to detail, strong cross-functional communication, analytical problem-solving abilities, and excellent written communication.



Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, and bending across shop floors and inspection areas; sitting for extended periods conducting documentation audits; handling inspection tooling and raw material samples up to 40 lbs.
