Working in collaboration with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals, Paramedics ensure effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired clinical outcomes. Paramedics in a correctional setting utilize their training and skills to promote and maintain the overall health and safety of the inmate population. QualificationsJob Requirements Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as an EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P). Current CPR/BLS certification. Minimum Work Experience: At least one (1) year of paramedic experience. Required Skills: Excellent critical thinking, assessment, and decision-making skills. Ability to act independently while maintaining professional judgment. Assertive, empathetic, and able to provide care objectively. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to gain the respect and confidence of both inmates and staff. Commitment to the mission and objectives of the correctional facility. Functional Demands Ability to pass all required health and screening tests. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed. Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, kneel, crouch, or stretch for prolonged periods. Organizational Expectations Provide a positive and professional representation of CFG Health Systems, LLC. Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA and PREA regulations. Follow infection control protocols, medication administration standards, and controlled substance regulations. Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities and complete required orientation. Adhere to OSHA and facility safety rules and CFG Health Systems Occurrence Protocol. Maintain a safe and clean patient environment to ensure a positive patient care experience. Be punctual and dependable for assigned shifts, maintaining required facility security clearance. Job Responsibilities Perform patient assessments in a variety of settings, including intake areas, health care units, housing units, chronic care clinics, and medical units. Administer treatments such as EKGs, phlebotomy, nebulizer therapy, Narcan, IV fluids, oxygen, and other emergency interventions as appropriate. Assist in resuscitation efforts and provide emergency medical support, including CPR, AED use, shock prevention, bleeding control, and spinal precautions. Monitor and evaluate patient conditions, reporting changes to supervising staff and documenting care accurately using SOAP format. Collaborate with primary care providers and healthcare teams to ensure timely and appropriate care. Maintain medical equipment, clean and restock supplies, and ensure operational readiness. Provide patient education and participate in discharge planning as directed. Promote a therapeutic and professional environment, treating inmates ethically and respectfully. Comply with all federal, state, local, and facility regulations, policies, and NCCHC standards. Maintain an active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Perform additional duties as assigned based on assignment setting or facility needs. Â
