Job Description

Job Description:

EBAD is seeking an Engineering Technician with experience working in a manufacturing environment.  The Engineering Technician’s primary role is to assist Product Engineers (PE) with the development and definition of new manufacturing processes, as well as the maintenance and continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes.  An engineering technician is expected to be able to perform all of the tasks of a production operator (producer) for assigned programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide daily hands-on support to Engineering or other personnel.
    • Assist PEs with design, develop and validation of PROCESSES for SAFELY producing products that meet the requirements of a Technical Data Package.
    • Assist PEs with Process Hazard Anlalysis (PHA) in accordance Process Safety Management (PSM) procedures.
    • Support/Lead Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews w/ guidance from PE
    • Assist PEs by providing input during requirements reviews of Technical Data Packages (TDP).
    • Assist PEs by providing input during design for manufacturability reviews.
    • Assist PEs with the design and layout of new and/or modified production cells/processes.
    • Specify, design, procure and/or fabricate (w/ PE guidance):  equipment, tooling, fixturing, and assembly aids for use in production processes.
    • Assist PEs with testing of product.
    • Assist PEs with trouble shooting of equipment and/or process failures.
  • Duties may include mixing, casting, extrusion, pressing, testing, loading, assembly and packaging for assigned products (must know how to do any tasks typically assigned to a producer within areas of responsibility).
  • With guidance from the PE, be able to create, update and maintain manufacturing documentation including: 
    • Manufacturing Instructions (MI),
    • Process Specifications (PS),
    • Inspection Plans (IP) and
    • Packaging Instructions (PI).
  • Train producers to work within process per manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform production cell set-up and change-overs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities such as kaizen.
  • Learn and use lean manufacturing tools (w/ guidance from PE) such as:
    • Creating and maintaining Standard Work packages
    • Problem Solving
    • PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis)
    • Developing ways to mistake proof a process (Poke Yoke)
  • Data entry and analysis on various product or processes characteristics. 
  • Perform inspections and other checks to verify conformance to requirements.
  • Participate in significant projects, such as, construction and new facility startup.
  • Assume additional responsibilities necessary to achieve company goals.
  • Occasional off-site travel may be required.  

Pre-requisites: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (ED)

AND

  • a minimum of 15 college credit hours,

OR

  • approximately 5 years related manufacturing experience and/or training,

OR

  • Military service/training in related fields

OR

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Preferred skills:

  • Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications. 
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. 
  • Experience using Autocad or Solidworks or other CAD-type software. 
  • Computing skills (ie MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, Zoom, MS project, MS Visio).
  • interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience w/ basic lab procedures (ie wet chemistry, environmental testing, reporting of test results, etc).
  • CNC programming and machining.
  • Time management skills
  • Experience with lab equipment including, but not limited to: precision weight scales, graduated cylinders, and calipers/micrometers.
