Summary:

Position: Sports Medicine Physician at Altru Hospital
Collaborative, Multidisciplinary Team: Join a robust group of Sports Medicine physicians and orthopedic surgeons, including fellowship-trained experts in ortho trauma and hand surgery, fostering a dynamic and supportive clinical environment.
Comprehensive Clinical Support: Benefit from dedicated APPs and experienced athletic trainers who assist with splinting, casting, and patient care—streamlining workflow and enhancing efficiency.
On-Site Advanced Technology: Access to in-clinic ultrasound, X-ray, and PRP equipment ensures timely diagnostics and treatment options, all under one roof.
High-Volume, Diverse Patient Base: Serve a large and growing population, including athletes from local public and rural schools—offering the potential for a thriving, fast-paced practice with strong community ties.

Board Eligible/Board Certified in Sports Medicine
Licensed MD/DO in ND and MN

Essential Job Functions:

  • Evaluates, provides diagnosis and treatment of patients of Altru who present with injuries or illnesses.  Counsels patients and advises on preventative healthcare measures. 

  • Exercises Doctor's own judgment in the diagnosis and treatment of patients consistent with Altru’s policies and standards.

  • Achieves the Altru Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals established on an annual basis.  Participates in activities and support department goals as defined by department on an annual basis.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation ensuring quality patient care and assurance of appropriate reimbursements to Altru.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate within specified field of medical practice from respective accredited school.

  • Must be admissible to sit for either the Canadian or American Board or be certified by the Canadian Board and are members of either the Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Surgeons, American board certification or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) board certification.  Board certification in area of specialty must be obtained within five years of employment.

  • Must be granted medical staff appointments at Altru and associated facilities as are necessary to the commission of duties prior to commencement of employment. 

  • Must be insurable under the Health System’s professional liability carrier prior to commencement of employment.

  • Doctor of Optometry, Chiropractic Medicine and Podiatry must have graduated from respective accredited schools.

  • Be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which they are assigned.

This position requires proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication in the workplace and with patients, families, and team members.
