As a Powder Coating Technician, you'll play a key role in producing durable, visually appealing coated products used in furniture, racking systems, and other manufactured components. We're looking for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and values safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation & Setup: Assure proper cleaning and pre-treating of parts and assure parts are hung efficiently for optimal spray coverage.
- Equipment Operation: Set up and operate powder guns, hoppers, and booth exhaust systems; maintain filters and other equipment.
- Coating Application: Spray powder using correct techniques to ensure even, consistent coverage; follow customer specifications and quality control procedures.
- Curing: Monitor curing ovens to ensure proper finish setting.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for defects, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
- Maintenance & Cleanliness: Keep work areas and equipment clean; clean powder booths and remove waste powder.
- Support Duties: Assist with other shop tasks as directed by Supervisor or Lead.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years as an industrial painter or powder coating technician.
- Technical Skills: Ability to adjust spray settings, maintain powder levels, and troubleshoot coating issues.
- Safety Compliance: Follow Respirator Protection Program; wear PPE including safety glasses, respirator, and PAPR hood.
- Work Ethic: Responsible, reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical Requirements: Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 35 lbs.; tolerate warm temperatures and repetitive hand movements.
Work Environment:
- Setting: Manufacturing and fabrication shop.
- Conditions: Exposure to warm temperatures, noise from machinery, etc.; must maintain a clean, organized workspace.
