The Full-Time Production Assistant plays a critical role in supporting live and recorded television broadcasts. This position is responsible for a variety of production functions, including camera operation, graphics creation, equipment setup, and studio support. Success in this role requires reliability, flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • This position is expected to fill in for team members during vacations, illnesses, staffing shortages, and other absences. Candidates must be dependable, adaptable, and available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.


    Essential Duties & Responsibilities
               

  • Compose and frame camera shots, utilizing technical knowledge of lighting, lenses, composition, and camera settings to achieve desired production results.
  • Collaborate with directors and other production personnel to execute broadcast plans and visual storytelling elements.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with minor equipment issues as needed.
  • Create and produce graphics for newscasts and other station programming.
  • Support a variety of production and technical operations as assigned.
  • Serve as a reliable fill-in for production staff during vacations, sick leave, and other employee absences.
  • Work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements & Skills

  • Demonstrated reliability, strong attendance, and a commitment to supporting team operations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of performance.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and last-minute schedule changes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in live production environments.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with standard office and production equipment.
  • Previous television production experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Physical Demands & Work Environment
    The Production Assistant must be able to stand, sit, walk, reach, climb, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday. This role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team while making decisions that can impact live broadcast operations. Work may be performed in studio environments, control rooms, offices, or outdoor remote locations.

    Candidates must be able to:
                Lift, carry, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Work in environments with varying lighting conditions, including bright studio lighting and low-light production settings.
  • Operate equipment and tools requiring manual dexterity and attention to safety.
  • COMPENSATION RANGE:

    Annual Salary: $32,240.00-commensurate with experience
