Engineering Technician
HIRING RANGE: $28.76- $32.37 per hour.
About the Position:
The City of Grand Junction's Transportation and Engineering Division seeks a creative, team-oriented Engineering Technician to provide support on utility infrastructure projects. Under the supervision of professional engineering staff, this position will primarily be responsible for drafting, designing, and preparing engineering drawings for capital improvement projects. Applicants proficient using AutoCAD Civil3D software with experience in design of utility projects and/or experience in drafting for land surveying are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do:Â
- Develop existing conditions plans and mapping based on land surveying data.
- Prepare site plans, grading, water, sewer, and transportation layouts using AutoCAD Civil3D software.
- Conduct site visits, surveys, and research local standards/codes for design of public projects.
- Prepare final construction drawings, details, and specifications for capital improvement and maintenance projects.Â
- Participate in the preparation of quantity estimates and cost estimating for capital improvement projects.
- Prepare a variety of illustrations, graphics, and exhibits to support land surveying, public meetings, and other departments.Â
- Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities for assigned programs.

What We're Looking For:
- Associate degree from an accredited institution with course work in engineering technology.
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing technical engineering work including experience with civil engineering design software programs and applications.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.Â
