Groundskeeper – Grand Junction | 40hrs/week Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
 Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
 Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
 Pay Range: $20.96-23.19Â
JOB SUMMARY:
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization’s outdoor environments through comprehensive groundskeeping, landscape maintenance, and professional horticultural practices. This role ensures all landscaped and hardscape areas are safe, accessible, and visually welcoming year-round, while also providing specialized Master Gardener expertise in garden planning, plant health, and seasonal landscape stewardship. The position supports campus gardens, collaborates with volunteers, and contributes to a well-maintained environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience:Three years in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance required. Experience working with volunteers or providing task guidance is strongly preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications: Master Gardener certification is required (or ability to obtain within six months). Valid Colorado driver’s license and adequate automobile insurance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of horticulture, landscaping, and plant care.
- Ability to identify plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Working knowledge of irrigation systems and seasonal watering schedules.
- Experience with snow removal and ice mitigation practices.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage seasonal and weather-driven work independently.
- Strong attention to safety, detail, and campus appearance.
- Effective communication skills when working with staff and volunteers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Medium Work: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use the hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Exposure to environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and uneven terrain.
- Regular use of garden tools and equipment with moving mechanical parts.
