The City of Grand Junction is seeking a collaborative, solution-driven team member who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can easily pivot on completing priorities and deadlines. As a Human Resources Technician, you will be the first point of contact for human resources inquiries and will support the department in a variety of human resources functions, including recruitment, benefits, employee relations, and payroll.Ā Ā

What You'll Do:Ā 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees and the public; respond to a wide variety of questions from managers, employees, applicants, and customers regarding various employee programs, benefits, recruitments, and policies.Ā Ā 

  • Create recruitment files and job postings; assist with interview questions; set up recruitment steps and move applicants through the hiring process; schedule interviews and conduct various practical assessments; assist applicants with questions; close recruitment files and purge electronic and hard-copy recruitment files per retention schedule.Ā Ā 

  • Perform driving record checks, background investigations, and reference checks; coordinate drug testing and other pre-employment tests.Ā Ā 

  • Conduct new hire orientations; prepare orientation packets and assist employees to complete and submit forms within required deadlines.Ā Ā 

  • Process City wide payroll information to include new hires, position changes, salary changes, benefit changes and separations; process benefit changes on vendor websites, and run reports to ensure accuracy.Ā Ā 

  • Process purchasing card payments and invoices for the department and assist the Finance department to reconcile benefit invoices; manage the department’s office supplies.Ā Ā

  • Two (2) years of experience providing technical and administrative support in a human resources department or related area.Ā Ā 

  • High school graduate or equivalent.Ā Ā 

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, Notary Public Commission.Ā Ā

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.Ā
