MarillacHealth serves over 12,000 patients per year in multiple locations. This position, as part of a multidisciplinary team, assists patients and providers by providing a broad range of clinical and administrative functions to the clinic. Primary duties include accessing and securing medical records, maintaining medical supplies, intake and agenda setting for patient visits, gathering vital signs, patient medical/family/social history and providing patient education. Responsibilities: Rooms patients and prepares them for the provider’s visit. This includes ability to initiate the visit, set visit agenda, obtain vitals, and document initial intake including chief compliant, medication list, medical/social/family history. Ready the exam room with the appropriate equipment before patient visits. Set up for all procedures including sterile field when necessary and assist the provider during the patient visit as needed. Administer and chart immunizations, injections and medications per guidelines. Per provider order and/or standing orders, perform tests on patients such as EKG’s, Oximetry, Spirometry, UA’s, A1Cs, audiometry, visual acuity, etc. Perform venipuncture for blood collection. Administer subcutaneous (SC), intramuscular (IM), or intradermal (ID) injections and/or vaccinations per provider order or standing orders. Maintains required education for and working knowledge of VFC or other vaccination programs clinic participates in. Set up patient oxygen and and administer O2 to patient via appropriate delivery. Keep assigned rooms stocked appropriately and assist with maintenance of inventory as assigned. Cleans rooms daily and in between patient visits. Manages prescription refill requests, notifies patients regarding test results as requested by provider; manages eCW/EHR inbox “jelly bean” tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Follow up on outside referrals, prescriptions, lab orders and testing Be a contributing member of the team in assisting in the efficiency of the workflow. Assists co-workers in completing their duties to promote effective teamwork. Flexible in performing other duties as assigned. Screens patients for depression using PHQ-9 tool Participate in team huddles and pre-visit planning including chart preparation and planning for next day’s visits in collaboration with RN, behavioral health, and other team members. Helps the call center during high volume times, or when an associate is out sick/vacation. Makes appointments for patients as needed, routes incoming calls to the appropriate person/department. Perform office phone medical triage for patients with medical questions or concerns to determine appropriate scheduling for patient in a tactful, confidential and professional manner. Documentation of ALL activities completed will be charted within the patient’s medical record. Must be able to work well under pressure while maintaining quality care. Participation in clinic quality measures is mandatory. Assists in orienting new medical assistant team members to our clinic protocols and work tasks. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsEducation / Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Medical terminology education helpful 6 months or greater working in a clinical setting. License / Certification Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant Program or Current LPN License Bilingual helpful BUT NOT REQUIRED
