Job DetailsJob Location: GRAND RAPIDS, MI 49512Description: The Production Supervisor will support the execution of the production schedule. Be the escalation point and coordinator crew members including cross training. This role will also report out production. They will assist in achieving product quality objectives and coordinating activities on the production floor. He or she helps to enforce all GMP’s, product quality, and plant safety policy and procedures.   Work Environment: This job operates in a food production and warehouse setting.  The floor surface is concrete. The noise level is moderate with no vibration. Material movement takes place throughout the facility. This job also utilizes standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines) and requires some work to be completed in an office setting.   May be required to cross train on Mutiple production lines Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. May require work at heights.  Hearing and speaking to exchange information Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment Reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally Bending at the waist, kneeling, sitting, or crouching Ability to walk and stand-up during shift Competencies: Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively. Technical Proficiency: Understanding of machinery and equipment used in the production process. Attention to Detail: Ensuring products meet quality standards and specifications. Organizational Skills: Efficient management of materials and supplies and managing personnel effectively. Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving production issues promptly.   Core Responsibilities: Overseeing the Production Process: Monitoring Efficiency: Ensure production lines run smoothly and efficiently, making adjustments as necessary. Adherence to Schedules: Ensure production meets established schedules and deadlines. Handling Delays: Address and resolve any production delays or issues promptly. Use of ERP to help support entering production status including material usage, work order completion and downtime Generate shift reports via Microsoft excel for production summaries and populate efficiency metrics. Use data to support continuous improvement and lean initiatives.   Managing Staff: Supervision: Oversee and manage production staff, ensuring they follow procedures and meet performance standards. Conflict Resolution: Skilled in addressing and resolving conflicts within the team. Training: Identify areas for improvement and organize training opportunities including cross training needs and updating training documentation Record employee hours and assign tasks through iSolve Quality Control: Standards Compliance: Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications. Inspect and log quality checks and non-conformances to ensure employees are maintaining high quality output. Safety and Compliance: Safety Protocols: Ensure all safety regulations and protocols are followed. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure machinery and equipment are functional and safe to use. Resource Management: Inventory Management: Ensure materials and supplies are available and managed efficiently Cost Control: Monitor and control production costs to stay within budget. Continuous Improvement:   Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in production processes to enhance efficiency and productivity. Other: Follow and enforce all OSHA Safety Regulation and Safety Rules. Utilize knowledge and research methods to benchmark materials planning activities and to drive best practice results  Work towards and support a culture of continuous improvement and work to make business and department improvements wherever possible Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) QualificationsEducation and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, industrial engineering, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience. Minium of 2-3 years of Manufacturing Experience exposed to quality control, production planning, or manufacturing processes. Minimum of 2-5 years of Demonstrated Leadership experience Demonstrated experience with problem-solving, good judgement  Technical Knowledge: Understanding machinery, workflows, and safety regulations. Ability to schedule shifts, manage personnel, monitor production output, maintain safety protocols, identify bottlenecks, and implement quality control measures Strong Interpersonal Skills with the Ability to maintain constructive and open dialogue with team Excellent written, verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and other departments. Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.
