Job DetailsJob Location: Signature Orthopedics By Sheridan - Grand Rapids, MI 49525Position Type: Full Time  Position: Medical Assistant – Grand Rapids Reports to: Practice Manager/Providers Schedule: Full-time Monday-Friday Job Summary: The Medical Assistant is a crucial component of the practice; they will play a dual role floating between the reception and medical assistant role as needed. Must be able work alongside the provider and clerical staff to ensure that patients receive optimal care and to aid in office efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performing or assisting in a variety of medical procedures/test Venipuncture/Vital signs/ rooming patients Administering injections Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary. Field all phone calls that arrive using our general office number. Reconcile daily cash flow and prepare bank deposit. Utilize medical office software to schedule appointments for patients. Register new patients and update necessary records. Distribute forms and paperwork to patients and then check them over to ensure that required fields are completed appropriately. Process patient payments in office and collection of all co-pays and deductibles  Ensures all paper reports are scanned into the EMR in a timely manner. Participate in quality improvement projects. Attend training and meetings as required Maintains awareness of current quality and safety measures on the unit and follows guidelines or reporting measures to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and staff. Knowledge and skills in quality improvement and research methodologies.   QualificationsEducation, Experience and Other Requirements: High School diploma Must be a licensed Medical Assistant Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a medical practice, to include basic patient care skills. Excellent communication skills required both verbal and written.  The desire to grow professionally and to gain more responsibility as necessary. Ability to handle complex workload that requires meeting daily deadlines.
