ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Must maintain a regular, reliable, consistent and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies. Other duties may be assigned.Â
- Researches, designs and develops improvements to existing processes, production methods including plant and work cell layout, production flow, production support equipment, and fabrication and assembly methods. Provides detailed recommendations for process direction and implementation. Â
- Ensures all processes comply with DSC policy in areas of health, safety and environmental assurances. Â Analyzes, recommends, and installs equipment required to meet applicable codes, standards and regulations.
- Utilizes statistical techniques and other engineering techniques to evaluate existing processes and implemented improvements. These include Quick Die Change, LEAN techniques, Six Sigma and knowledge of TPS.  Develops corrective action plans to bring non-conforming processes into compliance. Â
- Works extensively with production personnel including supervisors, team leaders, and operators to achieve the highest standards in safety/quality/delivery. Â Enhance manufacturing efficiency through process improvements standardized work and world class 5S standards.
- Works closely with Program Management to achieve new program launch objectives. Â
- Measure and track process efficiency and report on scrap, rework, downtime, uptime, TAKT time and cycle times.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge in area of manufacturing engineering methods and processes and shares this information with team members.
- Assists with assembly and installation of tooling and/or equipment, using hand and power tools. Â
- Provide justification of capital equipment purchases.
- Understanding and working knowledge of all job-related Quality Objectives, Quality System Policies, Procedures, and Instructions.
SKILLS needed include Statistical Analysis and Problem Solving, Work Cell/Manufacturing Simulation and Modeling, Process Floor Charting, FMEA’s, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Training/Mentorship and 5S.  Additionally, experience in Development of Work Standards and creating operator set up instructions is needed. Capital Requests and justification ability are also required, as are excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).  Project Management skills are a vital skill in this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- 2-6 years’ experience in engineering, preferred in the steel industry, tooling, metal stamping and/or value-added configured blanks.
- Knowledge of CAD, Die Design, Metal Stamping Die Error Proofing and Stamping Die in Die Sensing is preferred
- Error Proofing and Process/Value Stream Mapping skills are necessary.
