Manufacturing Operations Intern

Roskam has a full-time Summer 2026 Manufacturing Operations internship opportunity for individuals currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; recent graduates may apply with a related concentration and interest in a career in Manufacturing careers.  The summer internships will be on-site at our facilities in Grand Rapids. 

This Manufacturing Internship will support the production team in improving processes, increasing efficiency, and implementing solutions on the production floor. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment and processes.
• Collect and analyze data on production performance, identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
• Assist in troubleshooting mechanical and process-related issues to minimize downtime.
• Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, maintenance, quality) to ensure best practices in manufacturing.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement projects to reduce waste and improve workflow.
• Help develop training materials and support operators in adopting new processes or technologies.

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

Required:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in food manufacturing
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six sigma principles
