Psychologist - Program Director: HDVCH Intensive Feeding Program

The Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Intensive Feeding Program is seeking a Psychologist to service as program director, providing clinical leadership, operational oversight, staff development, and strategic program direction for a multidisciplinary pediatric feeding program. This leader will partner closely with the Medical Director in a shared leadership structure to advance program development and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care for children and families. This program is in collaboration with Mary Freebed Rehabilitation Hospital.

Clinical Oversight & Treatment Leadership

  • Holds primary responsibility for clinical processes related to patient care.
  • Oversees monitoring of outcomes and development of initiatives to improve program performance.
  • Identifies the function of children’s feeding patterns and develops, implements, and adjusts behavioral intervention plans.
  • Directs therapists’ implementation of treatment plans and oversees interdisciplinary feeding therapy.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, the Medical Director, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.

Administrative & Decision-Making Authority

  • Serves as the primary decision maker for programmatic administrative processes.
  • Refines workflows, clarifies processes, and resolves operational questions as they arise.
  • Ensures program compliance with organizational, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Mentor, train, and coach new and existing staff in behavioral treatment approaches and program standards.
  • Collaborates with IFP leadership regarding staff performance and development for all disciplines.
  • Provides input into performance reviews and staffing decisions in collaboration with direct uplines.
  • Escalates staff concerns appropriately when issues extend beyond routine coaching.

Research, Quality & Process Improvement

  • Develops and monitors research initiatives associated with the Intensive Feeding Program.
  • Leads process improvement efforts to enhance clinical outcomes, efficiency, and team functioning.
  • Maintains current knowledge of standards, regulations, and best practices in pediatric psychology and feeding disorders.

Patient & Family Experience

  • Holds primary responsibility for patient and family experience within the program.
  • Addresses parent concerns directly and partners with Practice Management as needed to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology or related field from an accredited program.
  • Experience in pediatric psychology, feeding disorders, behavioral intervention, or a closely related clinical specialty.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, develop clinical programs, and support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
