We are seeking a Senior Technician specializing in Building Maintenance Units (BMUs)/Powered Platforms to join our Consulting and Design team. You will perform inspections and conduct necessary maintenance and repairs of BMUs on commercial buildings. Leveraging your expertise, you will train other technicians as needed. You will serve as a technical advisor and lead the team in best practices as well as assist with inspection scheduling. You will generate quality technical reports and maintain accurate records as required. The ideal candidate has a strong electromechanical and safety background. You are knowledgeable in codes and standards for powered platform systems and permanent installations. You must be comfortable working at heights and can balance physical labor with office and technical work. This position is planned for Grand Rapids, MN. However, we will consider other professionally qualified candidates residing in other locations. Responsibilities: Perform inspections, repairs, and installations on commercial buildings, including flat roofs, office towers, and skyscrapers. Lead, advise, and train a team of technicians. Assure timely scheduling of inspections, repairs, and delivery of reports. Write detailed inspection and repair reports and review team reports for quality. Coordinate necessary activities with project managers, billing, and administrative staff. Safely climb ladders, access building roofs, and work at heights. Operate hand tools (wrench, drills, etc.) to perform repairs and installations. Provide professional, timely communication with project managers and clients. Work both independently and as part of a small field team to complete jobs on schedule. Travel to regional and national inspection assignments. Requires frequent and overnight travel. Follow all OSHA, industry, and company safety protocols. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Experience and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. 10+ years of BMU/Power Platform experience required Knowledge of pertinent codes and industry standards. Safety knowledge (OSHA standards) is required. Ability to work in both office and field settings. (approx. 70% field and 30% office with fluctuations). Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) Ability to produce grammatically and technically accurate reports and communications. Physically able to lift ~50 lbs. unassisted. Comfortable working on commercial building roofs and climbing straight ladders. Working at heights is required. Ability to work outside and perform physical labor (approx. 70% field and 30% office with fluctuations). Repair work is physical labor; inspections are light labor, and the office setting is minor physical labor. Field work in inclement weather is required. Familiarity with hand tools. Punctuality, timeliness, and flexibility with work hours that may exceed 8 hours shifts and may exceed 40 hour weeks Valid driver’s license and ability to meet ATS driving record standards. Ability to travel for projects (primarily national). Must be able to pass a physical exam, background check, and drug screening. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance to access military bases and perform job duties.
