About this unit   

The South Pavilion Surgery Center consists of 4 operating rooms. We care for patients undergoing surgery for multiple different specialties including ENT, plastics, general, GYN, fertility, Ortho, sports medicine, and Dental. Our patients receive excellent care and enjoy the option to come in for surgery and discharge home the same day, which is reflected in our likelihood to recommend scores. We are a great team that works very closely together to keep the day running as smoothly and efficiently as possible.  

About Outpatient Clinics  

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.  

Scope of work  

Assists in the preparation, delivery and clean-up of patient care during the intra-operative phase. Contributes to the smooth operation of the unit. Obtains and organizes necessary equipment, sterile supplies and instruments for each surgical case.  Assembles surgical supplies for rooms and case tables.  Opens sterile supplies for surgical procedures. Cleans equipment (including decontamination and sterilization of instruments), work areas and reusable supplies and returns unneeded equipment to appropriate department. Acts as a runner for nurses during surgeries dropping samples at the lab, getting blood bags or other materials from surgical core. Also follows-up on equipment needing repairs. These team members will be crossed trained to support the nursing unit and will assist with patient transport, vitals, blood sugar checks, drains etc.

Qualifications  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required   

  • Associate's Degree in related field Preferred   

  • 2 years of relevant experience Patient Care Preferred and 1 year of relevant experience in Operating Room Preferred  

  • AHA or ARC American Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 Days of hire required   

  • Anesthesia Technician Certification (Cer. A.T.)  preferred
