About the unit

Unit 4AB the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center is a 42-bed unit at Blodgett Hospital.  Team members enjoy working on the IRC unit as you are able to become an expert in so many areas since we care for a wide variety of diagnosis.  Some of the patients we care for are stroke, lung and heart transplant, bone marrow transplant patients as well as ortho trauma, limb loss, brain injury and more.  We often get to form great relationships with our patients and see them progress in a positive way. We have a very team-oriented floor and environment, which includes strong relationships as an interdisciplinary team. Also, we get the opportunity to care for every patient population within Corewell Health, thus a diverse learning experience.

Scope of work

Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.  Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner. 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
