  Position Summary

  The Food Service Server is an important member of the Food & Nutrition Services team, responsible for providing accurate, timely, and compassionate meal service to patients and guests in a healthcare environment. This position plays a key role in creating a positive dining experience while maintaining high standards for food safety, sanitation, diet accuracy, and customer service.

  The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, professional, and comfortable working as part of a fast-paced team. The Food Service Server interacts with patients, healthcare staff, and coworkers throughout the day and is expected to demonstrate patience, respect, and excellent communication.

  Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous, respectful, and compassionate service to patients, staff, and guests.
  • Assemble, check, and deliver patient meals according to established menus, diet orders, allergies, food preferences, and special instructions.
  • Verify meal trays for accuracy before delivery, including diet, entrée, sides, beverages, condiments, utensils, and special requests.
  • Follow all food allergy and therapeutic diet procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Deliver meals to designated patient units and dining areas in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work areas throughout the shift.
  • Follow proper food handling, temperature control, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.
  • Stock assigned areas and supplies according to established par levels and procedures.
  • Practice FIFO (First In, First Out) when stocking food and supplies.
  • Check products for proper labeling, expiration dates, and overall quality.
  • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding meal service concerns, missing items, diet discrepancies, patient concerns, equipment issues, or other problems.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy requirements.
  • Follow all departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete required documentation and temperature checks accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and wear required uniform and personal protective equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, nursing staff, and other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This is an hourly position, expected hours include days, evenings, some weekends, and some holidays.

• 1 year food service preferred
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
