Schedule | Hours

  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, or 3rd shift to support the team as needed

Position Summary:

This role performs the day-to-day operations of a hospital pharmacy, assists the manager, and is comfortable troubleshooting problems, has expertise in following regulations regarding compounding and handling of medications, and ideally has experience as a supervisor, lead technician, or peer leader.

What the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will need:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Licensed and Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Two to three years previous supervisory experience in pharmacy operations.
  • Completion of SMHC Essential Skills for New Leaders and Foundations in Leadership or equivalent experience and external development.

What the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will do:

  • Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities in a designated Pharmacy, within parameters delegated by the Pharmacy Manager, to assure quality pharmaceutical products and services are delivered to patients.
  • Ensures that staff follow proper procedures to assure patients receive the correct drug therapy at the proper time and that appropriate legal records and requirements are maintained.
  • Assures an adequate inventory of all pharmaceuticals and supplies.
  • Collaborates with the Pharmacy Manager to develop, write, revise and implement departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Communicates and collaborates with staff, management, various departments within Saint Mary’s and outside professionals such as customers, representatives and community pharmacists. Interviews vendor representatives for product availability and information.
  • Provides input for decisions in the areas of ongoing program development, activities and functions, such as procurement and inventory control, data processing and distributive systems.
  • Interviews and recommends candidates for hiring. Completes evaluations and recommends merit increases relating to subordinate performance. Makes recommendations regarding wages, and/or terminations of subordinates. Performs first line coaching, counseling, and discipline of direct reports. Schedules work hours of direct reports and models work assignments for staff.
