Job DetailsJob Location: Grand Rapids - Grand Rapids, MI 49505Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $20.00 - $22.00 HourlyJob Shift: 1st ShiftJob Category: QA - Quality ControlJOB SUMMARY: In partnership with the Quality and Production Managers, the QA Technician is responsible for data collection, reporting and analysis to assist the Quality and Production teams in assessing conformance of product to established specifications. The Quality Technician supports both Quality and company-wide projects and activities that ensure continuously improving value to our customers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Inspection Read, interpret and understand simple to complex component part and assembly drawings. Determine most appropriate measuring devices for attributes being checked based upon part designs and levels of accuracy required. Set up and utilize all types of measurement devices to confirm part conformity to drawing specifications and other technical documents. Support production by responding to requests from mfg for confirmation of part and tooling accuracy. Perform measurement device calibration activities in cooperation with Calibration Engineer. Analysis & Actions Judge acceptability of produced and procured parts based upon measurements taken. Input metrology data into multiple recording tools, including databases, spreadsheets and other forms. Assist with development of process flow charts, control plans other product & process quality documents. QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associates degree preferred with emphasis in a technical/scientific field with 2 years of progressively responsible quality control experience in a manufacturing environment; or a high school degree and 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality control function; or equivalent combination of education and experience such as a broad manufacturing background of at least 5 years of experience. Practical metrology experience in a production or lab setting. Computer skills, including MS Excel & Word. ERP system experience is a plus. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to use standard manual measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers and rules. CMM ability a plus. Ability to function in a flexible environment with changing job tasks based upon department work load. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must possess solid analytical skills in anticipating quality needs and capabilities. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress. Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
