Job Summary: 

The die setter’s role is to pull and set molds and change material in a timely manner, coordinating efforts with shift supervisors, process technician and molding scheduler or manager.  

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • N/A 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Pull and set production and sample tools per schedule and work instructions.  

  • Set up process parameters for technician, using process books. 

  • Clean press and area around press thoroughly after mold changes. 

  • Communicate concerns with molds or equipment to technician and/or supervisor. 

  • Communicate special instructions or concerns to die setters on other shifts. 

  • Transport molds to and from tool room. 

  • Assist in other duties when needed. 

  • Conduct material changeovers in a timely manner, prioritizing changes over other duties. 

  • Clean off presses after material changes and as needed. 

  • Fill out any necessary checklists and forms; including but not limited to: material change checklists, die change checklists, etc.  

  • Do moisture analyzer test to determine material dryness. 

  • Check dryers on a frequent basis for correct temperature setting and proper setup. 

  • Completely identify all hoppers, sprue barrels, buckets, gaylords, pre-dryer and material bins (material #, lot #, etc.) 

  • Give breaks to machine operators as time and scheduling allow. 

  • Keep molding department clean at all times. 

  • Prevent contamination of materials. 

  • Operates and passes safety training for a crane. 

  • Maintains a valid forklift license.  

  • Be familiar with end of arm tooling. Able to install and remove.  

  • Keep materials neat and orderly. 

  • Stage materials for job changeovers and the next shift’s production schedule. 

  • Assist in other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: 

Highschool GED and previous die setting experience preferred. 

 

Physical Requirements:  

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
